Joseph C. Ritchie, Jr. – President
Joey has over 30 years of leadership and management experience. Throughout his career, he has held key positions of responsibility in construction, engineering and warfare specialties. He has been involved with project design for over 30 years and specifically in commercial construction for the last 22 years. His experience includes financial management, project and contract management, business development, estimating, engineering design, testing and analysis, value engineering, scheduling and preconstruction services.
Joey earned a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1978 and a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1988.
In his free time Joey enjoys flying general aviation aircraft, boating and strumming guitar with his Church.

Dale Stephens – Estimating
Dale joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2015 as with over 40 years of experience in the construction industry. He currently serves as the Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing and training all field staff, jobsite inspections, and meeting and coordinating with project stakeholders, and contract management.
In his free time, Dale spends time with his family, goes camping, and travels with his wife.

Summer Oostra, LEED AP – Director of Operations
Summer has been a Project Manager with Ritchie-Curbow since 2003. Previous experience included accounting and estimating. Summer’s projects have included industrial buildings, multi-story office buildings, schools, churches and sports complexes.
Summer lives with her family in Williamsburg. In her free time she judges gymnastics competitions, does Bikram Yoga, and enjoys reading.

Rob Collins – Business Development
Rob has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. He is currently the estimator and head of business development for Ritchie-Curbow Construction Co. Inc. Rob works closely with Owners and Clients on developing a plan for their needs and takes the project thru the pricing stage up until it is ready for construction to begin.
Rob is very active in the community including being an officer in the Peninsula chapter of the Association of General Contractors and an Elder at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church. He can also be found chasing little white balls around groomed pastures.

Mike Ellis – Project Manager
Mike joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2003 as a metal building erection crew member and quickly became part of management. Prior to commercial construction, he worked in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a safety officer and quality control person. Mike has worked on projects in Newport News Shipyard, Jefferson Lab, Virginia National Guard as well as private commercial and religious facilities.
Mike enjoys spending time with his kids, trips to the beach, and playing guitar once in a while in his off time.

Duane Rupp, CPA – Controller
Duane joined Ritchie-Curbow back in 2006 as a Controller. Duane is in charge of all accounting functions as well as leading the weekly Game of Thrones water cooler discussions.
Duane went to Christopher Newport University and used to be a professional bowler. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his eight grandchildren. Around the office, he’s referred to as the Accountant and always ensures his coworkers have lunch which he considers the most important meal of the day.

Shari Ashmore – Director of Administration
Shari has worked with Ritchie-Curbow since 2007 as an Assistant Project Manager. Her duties include contract administration, office management, liaison with subcontractors, owners, developers, employees, making sure the office celebrates everyone’s birthday, and generally keeping everyone in line. She has over 25 years of Real Estate, Construction and Development experience ranging from Administrative to Marketing to Management.
Shari loves reading, playing the piano, and rooting for her Yellow Jackets. She won’t cheer on any other ACC team, especially the Hokies, even though she’s happily married to one.

Stephanie Callis – Project Management Assistant
Stephanie is a longtime resident of Newport News, VA but a native of Rochester, NY. She is a proud veteran of the United States Navy where she served as a Nuclear Electrician’s Mate from 1998-2006, serving on both the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) and the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). She is a graduate of TNCC and ODU where she majored in Business Administration.
She has been providing administrative support for over a decade. She happily joined the Ritchie-Curbow team in 2017. Assisting her peers and our clients is near and dear to her heart and she is honored to be in a capacity to serve the community in which she lives.
Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, arts, music (occasional karaoke) and is very active in her church.

Shauna Farmer - Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
Shauna joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2015, originally a temporary employee, but after being here for a few months, we found the Ritchie-Curbow office could not do without her and she without us. Her vast array of duties include general administrative work, answering phones, receiving visitors, maintaining supplies and office equipment. But most importantly, she is the best for lightening our mood and making our office the most fun – especially when its lunch time, she is known as the "Queen of Extra Sauces".
Shauna is the mother of one, our little Thomas, who keeps her hopping and moving. She loves creating and designing crafts and spending time with her family and friends.

Rex Kohen – Senior Project Superintendent
Rex joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2004 as a superintendent and has been in and around construction for over 40 years. Rex has completed a wide variety of jobs including midrise office buildings, parking garages, schools, office warehouses and renovation work.
When he’s not at work, you can find him cruising on his Harley and spending as much time in the Blue Ridge Mountains riding as he can.

Mike Inman – Senior Project Superintendent
Mike joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2017 as a Project Superintendent. He has been in the construction industry for 40 years, and has been the leader on jobs ranging from HVAC renovation to multimillion dollar projects for the government and the private sector.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys being on the Eastern Shore and out in his boat. He is a semiprofessional wildlife photographer, and enjoys spending time with his three grandchildren

Jerry Legg – Project Superintendent
Jerry joined the Ritchie-Curbow team in 2001. He has an extensive background in the construction industry, beginning his career with residential construction before moving into the commercial realm. He has managed several multi-million dollar projects over the last 13 years, working closely with subcontractors, company staff and clients to provide a top-notch product.
Jerry enjoys golfing, spending time with his two children and trying new recipes for his smoker.

Dale Sellers – Project Superintendent
Dale has been in the construction industry since 1981, joined Ritchie-Curbow in 2010 as a carpentry foreman and has since advanced to management. In a prior work he had 20 years’ experience in framing as a crew leader. He enjoys the challenge of coordinating subcontractors, inspections, and phasing and seeing that jobs are completed on schedule and under budget.
Dale can be seen in his time off fishing and being in the wilderness camping and hunting.
